Mayor's Chief of Staff

Jazz Clayton-Hunt has served as Chief of Staff to Mayor Adrian O. Mapp since 2018. Operating in a dual capacity, she is also the city's director of communications and technology.
 
As Chief of Staff, Ms. Clayton-Hunt reports to the Mayor and serves as the Mayor's principal aide and advisor on City issues. The Mayor's communications to the public are managed by this office, working closely with the Media and Communications team, relaying the Administration's progress through various media platforms.
 
The Mayor relies on the Chief of Staff to assist with a broad range of municipal activities, such as developing policy and process efficiency while focusing on the Administration's strategic goals. Areas of focus include public safety, economic development, finance, communications, and constituent engagement.
 
On behalf of the Mayor, the Chief of Staff is the liaison for intergovernmental relations for the city, working directly with all levels of government, including Federal, State, County, and School Boards, identifying potential partners and resources to service the needs of Plainfield residents.
