Tax Assessor's Objective: 
The Assessor is responsible for establishing the value and fairly assessing all real property in the City of Plainfield. The Assessor’s Office has two categories of responsibilities: Administration and Appraisal.

The administration's duties include processing deeds, maintaining and updating property records, working in conjunction with the Planning Office to maintain the tax maps, and processing applications for exemptions and deductions, which include senior citizens, disabled persons, veterans, 100% disabled veterans, and qualified exempt organizations.

Included in the Appraisal duties are Defense of tax appeals, property inspections, calculation of value, sales analysis, and added assessments
